Conceived as a centre of national significance, this project innovatively incorporates a wide range of environmentally sustainable design strategies.

The project also involved extensive provision of outdoor learning areas and facilities for horticulture (equipment sheds, polyhouses, plantations, etc).

• Use of recycled timber
• Earth berming for insulation
• 'Active' water course for recycling of water
• Extensive stormwater and gray water retention and reuse
• Use of low embedded energy materials
• Use of integral building system controls
• Photo-voltaic & solar energy systems
